Rose petals and raspberry leaf aromatics, crushed and fragrant. This is delicious, with slate backed redcurrant and raspberry fruit, clear texture and grace, upward lift through the palate, jewel like in colour, easy to approach and yet with clear ageing ability, great quality. Juicy and mouthwatering finish, a wonderful testament to the easy beauty of these less renowed Burgundy appelations. 1.5ha for the 1er Cru, set across three plots, Les Vercots, Les Guérets and Les Valozières. A hot year where harvest took place August 23 to 29, fully completed before September even began. Bottled unfiltered, with 15% whole bunch fermentation.

A blend of three Premier Cru plots; Les Vercots, Les Guérets and Les Valozières covering 1.5ha with an average age of 45 years old. Sharp and energetic, the acidity and strawberry/raspberry tang hit first, exploding on the palate with mouthwatering acidity that gives a thrilling expression bursting with life and flavour. Tannins have a soft chalky aspect, coating the palate with a powdery texture while the fruit keeps the freshness and lift all the way through. Feels well worked, bright and poised, fun and seriously succulent but keeping the direction and sense of tension and refinement. 85% destemmed, 15% whole bunch fermented, bottled unfiltered. Winemaker Pierre Chapuis.

Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2020 Aloxe-Corton Premier Cru prances out with showy notes of violets, kirsch, and black raspberries, leading to hints of dark chocolate and aniseed with a waft of dried leaves. The medium-bodied palate delivers mouth-filling red berry and floral layers with a solid backbone of fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long.
