Produced with 40% Carménère, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 10% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Franc from Apalta, the 2019 Primus The Blend matured in barriques and 5,000-liter foudres (33%) for 12 months, except for 33% of the wine that aged in 5,000-liter oak foudres. It has 13.5% alcohol and good freshness and balance, with the elegant and tender profile I found across the range. It has a clean nose and a polished palate, supple tannins and a long, dry finish. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2022.

Raspberries, blackberries, blackcurrants, grilled peppers, tomato leaves and spice box on the nose. Medium-bodied with firm tannins. Clean and firm with a leafy edge. Sustainable. Better in 2023.
