Bright fruit on the nose with blackberries, blueberries and tinge of orange rind. Notes of leathery spice and dried flowers add complexity. Medium-bodied with firm, silky tannins that add a further savory edge to the fruit. Finishes focused and long with clean fruit and firm minerals. Give this another year or two to even out. Try from 2023.

The 2019 Aglianico Rubrato opens with an earthy burst of fresh-turned soil and wild herbs that gives way to an alluring mix of black tea leaves and crushed plums. It’s like pure silk on the palate, without a hard edge in sight, as a wave of ripe wild berry fruits flows across the palate, neatly contrasted by citrus. The 2019 finishes with medium length and only lightly structured, already yet pleasurable today. Violet inner florals and salted licorice notes slowly fade. This is a fantastic rendition of Aglianico Rubrato.
