An excellent introduction to the red wines of Beaune, this has full red-fruit and earthy character with hints of spicy oak and licorice. A crowd-pleasing balance of generosity and moderately dry tannins on the palate with good length. Should age well. Drink or hold.

Fred Weber stressed how healthy the grapes were in 2019. Vibrant redcurrant/raspberry fruit, an abundance of elegance here despite fruit ripeness and alcohol weighing in at 14.5%. Concentrated, supple and fine tannins, restrained, almost unnoticeable, oak. Weber likens the 2019 vintage to 1949.
