B-21 Top Recommendation
During a career in Milan's fast-paced fashion industry, Ampelio Bucci began serious work at his family's estate in Italy's Marche region producing world class wines from Verdicchio grapes. Farming here since the 18th century, the Bucci family had grown indigenous Verdicchio for generations. The best Verdicchio comes from the appellation Castelli di Jesi where Ampelio claims great Verdicchio can only come from vines once they reach at least twenty years old. At the Bucci Estate, vines reach 55 years of age, averaging 35 years, and are well situated and organically farmed. One of Italy's top white wines, Verdicchio is age-worthy and can go 15+ years as Bucci has the proof in his cellar. Few are aware of the varietal's potential for longevity. We at B-21 started working with Bucci's 1985 Verdicchio, and have been fans ever since. The 2016 Bucci has just recieved the highest accolade Tre Bicchieri (Three Glasses) from Italy's top wine publication, the Gambero Rosso. Bucci Verdicchio has never been better or more in fashion. The 2018 is a great follow-up to the stunning 2016.
