The Mongeard family has roots in Vosne-Romanée dating back to the 18th century, with records showing a Mongeard working as a vigneron in 1786. Today the estate is run by Vincent Mongeard, who began working alongside his father in 1975 before taking over the Domaine in 1995. Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret covers an area of more than 75 acres, split among 35 appellations. The varied range of climates in which the Mongeards own vineyards results, naturally, in wines of great diversity. In the words of Robert Parker, "the style of winemaking seems to extract rich, supple, concentrated fruit from the grapes...The wines always seem to show well young, but age nicely for 10-15 years." |
