B‑21 has always offered the best wines at the best prices of any vendor. I had a lot of problems with FedEx shipping on several occasions, but all of a sudden they've implemented a new schedule and notification system that really seems to work. This delivery was on time and perfect. Looking forward to my next order.

Good selection, fair prices and prompt/economical delivery. Minor but worrisome gripe: 2 bottles in the last shipment either were corked or the corks were loosen in shipment. The bottles were both fully intact, as were the foil caps, but both had leaked into the box. One lost about 75% of the wine, and the other only about 10%. They were 2 of 6 vermentino wines from as very reputable Tuscan producer that I know well, having been there twice.

Sadly, UPS damaged my shipment of the last bottles of Banyuls wine in B‑21 inventory. The message I received was that the unbroken bottles of my order was being returned to sender (B‑21). I was beyond bummed! B‑21's customer service was extraordinary. In order to arrange for a replacement shipment to be sent, they had to replenish their stock. Within a few hours, I got a message saying the wine was ordered, and confirmed that I'd receive an email when the order was shipped. I couldn't ask for better service. I highly recommend B‑21 for their selection and service. Thanks so much for going above and beyond.

The folks at B‑21 turn orders quickly and the$24/case shipping cost is reasonable. My shipment arrived with one broken bottle that apparently was empty when it was packed, as there was no evidence of wine in any dividers, the bottles in the case, or the case itself. The cork was still in the bottle. It was disappointing to lose a bottle of my wife's favorite wine, and they refunded the price of the bottle without delay. It was unfortunate that this happened, but hard to understand how an empty bottle could have been put in the case. I am satisfied with their response and hope to continue doing business with them.

Driven by his vision to transform Abruzzo into a world class wine region, founder Gianni Masciarelli set out to change the reputation and quality of Italy’s second most planted grape from the ground up, introducing the Guyot method of vine training to reduce yields, employing sustainable farming practices and purchasing only optimal vineyard parcels across the region to produce his wines. Making “irrefutable” contributions to Abruzzo’s winemaking according to critic Antonio Galloni including aging in barrels in lieu of concrete, Gianni began with two hectares of his grandfather’s vineyards in 1991 and expanded to over 300 hectares over the next decades, his well-crafted Abruzzo wines gaining international acclaim that has continued under the direction of his wife, Marina Cvetic, for whom the cuvee was named and now joined by their eldest daughter Miriam Lee. Sourced from eight of the estate’s top parcels, the vineyards for the 2018 Marina Cvetic Riserva are planted in a range of soils from calcareous clay to gravelly rocky at 200 to 400 meters above sea level throughout the four provinces of Abruzzo, enjoying a unique microclimate on Abruzzo’s narrow strip of rugged terrain between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea with cooling breezes that moderate temperatures and prevent disease. Complex aromas of crushed black fruit, dried lemon peel, kalonji seeds and more if you linger. Full-bodied palate, where the intense fruit coats the medium-grain tannins on the center-palate and continues to push through the wall as the tannins firm up towards the end. The finish is already long and fruity and will only lengthen as the wine matures in bottle. Super quality here. Try from 2024.

The 2018 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva S. Martino Rosso Marina Cvetic is super rich and concentrated but also incredibly smooth and ironed out in terms of texture. The wine does taper down considerably on the palate, offering soft tannins and more reasonable human-sized black fruit concentration. The Masciarelli family does a top-notch job following the winemaking vision of the late and great Gianni Masciarelli.

Aromas of brandy-soaked dark cherry, anise, allspice and chopped mint show depth, concentration and purity in this Montepulciano that sees time in French oak. It's rich in feel on the palate, but counterbalanced by a bright core of acidity that pushes along the dense berry and spice flavors. There's a polish to it all that makes it accessible in the near term, but it would also hold well through 2028.
