Offering up aromas of smoky plums, berries and spices, the 2018 Côte de Beaune is medium-bodied, supple and fleshy, with a generous core of fruit, melting tannins and succulent acids. A cuvée that's complemented by declassified barrels of young-vine Beaune and Beaune 1er Cru, it's a fine value.

The 2018 Côte de Beaune Rouge comes from 13 different parcels from around the appellation and receives a minute amount of whole cluster. It offers punchy blackberry, raspberry and black olive scents on a nose that races from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly rustic tannins, good depth and fine balance. There is a simplicity to this wine, but that is actually its strength. Hints of white pepper appear on the finish. Recommended.
