With the history of Château Les Gravières dating back to the 19th century, winemaker Denis Barraud has been leading his family’s Saint-Emilion estate for 50 years. Named “a sleeper of this vintage” by Vinous critic Antonio Galloni, the outstanding 2018 Les Gravières features layers of rich red and black fruit, floral and chocolate notes and smooth tannins in an elegantly styled Right Bank Bordeaux, a luscious Merlot-based Bordeaux at an exceptional value.

Planted on sandy gravel with a cool iron-laden subsoil contributing minerality, the 11 acres of Merlot vineyards from which the 100% Merlot Les Gravieres’ feature vines ranging from 33-45 years. Barraud ages Château Les Gravières on the lees in 100% new oak for 16 months, adding tannic structure and depth. Produced in the excellent 2018 vintage which allowed for extended ripening, the 2018 Les Gravières exhibits juicy concentration with ripe, opulent fruit and velvety tannins, striking a balance between power and finesse.

Garnering multiple 90 plus pt. ratings, the 2018 Château Les Gravières is an incredible Bordeaux bargain, “a hedonistic dream” according to critic Jeb Dunnuck, a Right Bank beauty to enjoy now and for years to come.

Made from 100% Merlot, the 2018 Les Gravieres is deep garnet-purple and rocks up with gregarious blueberry pie, chocolate-covered cherries and plum preserves scents with nuances of violets, spice cake and mocha. Big, full and decadently fruited, it has a firm frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing very long and layered.
