Sourced from 32 hectares of 30-year-old vines planted above the Garonne in gravel hills up to 25 meters deep, Chateau Lanessan is aged in a combination of 33% new French oak barrels, 33% one year old and 33% two year old for an average of 12 months, yielding earthy dark fruit and powerful tannic structure that evolves beautifully over time, garnering a reputation among Bordeaux purists as a harmonious, classically styled blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with an impressive ability to age. The 2018 Lanessan is deep garnet-purple colored with black cherries, cassis, mulberries and baked plums on the nose with herbs, earth and tea hints. Medium to full-bodied, it is a little chewy and herbal with the oak poking through on the finish.
