Naming her estate for her grandmother Marie Courtin, grower producer Dominique Moreau has been making single vintage Champagnes from her tiny 2.5 hectare vineyard since 2005, all crafted with no added sugar in an extra dry style known as “zero dosage.” Located in Champagne’s southernmost region that’s geographically closer to Chablis than Epernay, Dominique farms Marie Courtin’s low-yielding estate vineyard with biodynamic principles, its southern location sharing Chablis’ warmer temperatures and Kimmeridgian limestone-based soil and yielding richly textured Pinot Noir with matching acidity.

Crafting a “stunning range of champagnes” according to Antonio Galloni of Vinous that are both “thrilling” and “deeply satisfying,” these exquisite terroir-driven Champagnes from Marie Courtin boast an intensity and minerality rooted in Dominque Moreau’s meticulous vineyard practices and precision in the cellar, two exquisite hand-crafted vintage grower Champagnes produced in limited amounts at an appealing price.

The 2018 Extra Brut Eloquence is magnificent. Elegant and layered, the 2018 is ripe, pure and very vinous in feel. It shows a hint of reduction, reminiscent at times of a great still white wine. The long, pure finish is a thing of beauty. Eloquence is 100% Chardonnay from a single vineyard site in Polisot on clay-limestone soils. Zero dosage. Disgorged: November, 2022.
