Wow. This really captivates you from the get-go with loads of beeswax, honeysuckle and apricots. And then the sea salt, chalk, white blossoms, chamomile and hints of vanilla and apple strudel follow. On the palate, this is so polished and intense with racy acidity. A textured mouthfeel all the way to the long, structured finish. Drink or hold.

The third vintage of the Sémillon from Patagonia, the 2017 Old Vines from Patagonia Semillon was sourced from 60+-year-old vineyards from Allen, Río Negro, in Patagonia. Sixty percent of the volume fermented in used French oak barrels and the rest in concrete eggs, where both wines were kept for eight months before they were blended. It has the austere character of the variety, subtle and elegant, with shy aromas, great acidity and freshness and all that is needed to improve in bottle for many years. 3,000 bottles were filled in November 2017.
