Tight and focused red with a linear and refined backbone of tannins and a mineral character. Medium-bodied and very integrated with a racy finish.

91-92 points, James Suckling (Apr 2018)

The 2017 Destieux is deep garnet-purple in color and scented of cedar chest, unsmoked cigars and underbrush with underlying cassis, black cherry and clove aromas. Medium to full-bodied with a firm frame of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, it delivers a good amount of pure black fruit with a spicy finish.

90-92 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate (Issue # 236 - Apr 2018)

The 2017 Château Destieux reveals an impressive deep purple color as well as a beautiful perfume of blueberries, black cherries, exotic spices, and violets. It's medium to full-bodied and layered on the palate, with a soft, supple, elegant texture. This beauty has more richness and breadth than most in the vintage and is a terrific wine.

90-92 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Apr 2018)

The 2017 Destieux has a bold and floral bouquet with plush blueberry and kirsch aromas, heady at first but gaining more refinement with aeration (something that this Saint-Émilion does not always provide.) The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a little oaky in style but there is decent fruit underneath with a fleshy, mocha-tinged finish that has something almost Rioja about it. It is attractive overall and might merit a higher score after bottling.

89-91 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (May 2018)
