I love the classical nose of spice, berries and herbs of the 2016 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza, a textbook ultra-classical Rioja that matured in used American oak barrels for 24 months, during which time it was racked by gravity every six months. These wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and a soft vinification without much extraction of long macerations. It's expressive, polished and very pleasant, really what I expect in this style, with some developed notes and a gentle mouthfeel. 100,000 bottles produced. Very good introduction to a classical Crianza at a very attractive price. It was bottled in April 2021.

Brilliant ruby. Aromas of cherry pit, blackberry, licorice and cola are complemented by an earthy suggestion of cured tobacco. Sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering cherry preserve, dark berry, black cardamom and rose pastille flavors that spread out slowly on the back half. Shows very good clarity and appealing juiciness on a long, supple finish that's framed by smooth, even tannins.
