The Monteraponi Chianti Classico Riserva Il Campitello is among the finest expressions of Sangiovese you will find. Its limited production makes that all the more challenging. The Cru Il Campitello is the oldest planting at Monteraponi exceeding 40 years of age. Elevation here in Radda is 420 meters yielding textbook Riserva from ‘galestro’ soils which is drinkable now but will well endure another decade. Compelling indeed and certainly worthy of a Top 100 designation by the Wine Spectator.

Underbrush, wild red berry, new leather and rose aromas are front and center on this fragrant, focused red. Radiant and savory, the taut, chiseled palate delivers juicy red cherry, crushed strawberry, star anise and white pepper alongside firm refined tannins. Hint of blood orange. Loaded with finesse and tension, it's youthfully austere at this stage and shows fantastic aging potential. Drink 2022–2041.
