Dany and Michel Rolland – both oenologists – are a formidable duo, consulting for some of the finest estates in Bordeaux, and fell in love with the quaint village of Fronsac back in the '80s. By 1986, they acquired a few acres in Saillans, arguably the most beautiful part of Fronsac, overlooking the Dordogne on the East Bank of Bordeaux. Acquiring additional plots, formalizing their vineyard in 1999, the Rollands completed their home and vineyard, including an incredible vinification room, barrel cellar and storage area, all equipped with the most modern, high-tech equipment available. Truly amazing the bang for the buck here!

Extremely perfumed and bright with raspberry, currant and dried-flower character. Full-bodied, yet soft and velvety with a flavorful finish. Already gorgeous. Better from 2022.

93 points, James Suckling (Feb 2019)

The 2016 Fontenil is ripe, racy and voluptuous. Floral and blood orange notes add lift and energy to the red berry and raspberry jam fruit. Vibrant and wonderfully inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer. Silky tannins add to the wine's sheer appeal.

92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2019)

The 2016 Fontenil is medium to deep garnet-purple colored and gives up exuberant red cherries, black raspberries, wild blueberries and cinnamon stick scents with hints of wild sage and forest floor. Medium-bodied, refreshing and wonderfully elegant, it has beautiful vibrancy and a perfumed finish.

91+ points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate (Nov 2018)
