2016 was considered to be a perfect harvest and a winemaker’s dream vintage. Trevor Durling, Beaulieu’s GM and head winemaker - the sixth in the winery’s 120 year history, told me conditions were perfect for producing a Cabernet with beautiful fruit as well as tremendous concentration of flavors, highly saturated color, and layers of complexity. A veritable tapestry of Napa Valley in warp and weft. The first vintage of Tapestry was 1990, and has always been predominately a Cabernet Sauvignon blend. Tapestry's Cabernet looks for fruit expression and more subtle tannins for near term drinkability, is sourced from western Benchlands in the Rutherford AVA. The balance of Cabernet is sourced from the Stags Leap District, Atlas Peak, and Coombsville in the foothills outside of the historic town of Napa. Tapesty's Merlot is found in warmer vineyards in Carneros and Rutherford Bench. The Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec come from estate vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. Durling’s magic may have just turned out the finest Tapestry yet. Don’t miss the debut - right here and now.
