Giacomo Rocca started in the wine business selling grapes from the family vineyards in the 1940s, of course also making a small amount wine for the family. The winery began in the 1960s, the work of Albino Rocca after the inheritance of choice vineyard sites. Continued by Angelo his son and now the grandchildren of Albino run the winery. Having followed the family for over a decade (maybe two), the 2016s are indeed the wineries finest achievement. The Ronchi is the culmination of four generations of hard work by the Rocca family and struggling vines for over five decades, and worthy of the "Cellar Selection" by the Wine Enthusiast.

Fresh and pure, with rose, strawberry, cherry and licorice flavors that are well-defined and long. Tobacco and tar accents add complexity as this red remains delicate and detailed from beginning to end. This is all about finesse rather than power. Best from 2022 through 2038. 650 cases made, 300 cases imported.

Forest floor, new leather, underbrush and eucalyptus aromas mingle with a whiff of peppercorn. On the full-bodied, focused palate, tightly knit, noble tannins and bright acidity frame juicy Morello cherry, licorice, tobacco and a hint of truffle. Drink 2026–2036. Cellar Selection.
