Opaque ruby. An expansive, complex bouquet displays spice-tinged blackberry, cherry, incense and rose pastille, along with a vanilla nuance in the background. Stains the palate with black and blue fruit, spicecake, cola and floral pastille flavors, while tangy acidity provides lift and focus. Gently firming tannins build through the impressively long finish, which repeats the blue fruit and floral qualities. Raised for two years in new and used French and American oak barrels.

Even if 2015 was a warmer and riper year in general, the Pérez Pascuas family got very low yields, and their 2015 Viña Pedrosa Reserva doesn't show any heat. Perhaps the toasted and smoky tones from the barrels are a little more marked, but the palate shows the balance and restraint that made them famous. The tannins are fine-grained and there is great balance, with that elegant rusticity common throughout their portfolio. 69,980 bottles produced. It was bottled in January 2018.

There’s a wealth of iodine and dark berries on offer here, as well as a core of plums. The palate has a juicy and sleek feel with cassis and black-cherry flavors, set in gently flinty, stony nuances. Drink or hold.
