Crafted by the Champagne House renowned for producing the iconic Cristal, the elegant 96 pt. 2015 Louis Roederer Brut Champagne offers aromatic zesty layers of rich fruit hinting of toasted brioche with vibrant acidity and an enticing mineral-laced finish rising on a steady stream of fine bubbles, an outstanding vintage Champagne bargain priced at a fraction of Roederer’s prestige cuvee to enjoy often over the upcoming holiday season and beyond.

With a family history in Reims dating back to 1776, Louis Roederer inherited the champagne house that would become known as Champagne Louis Roederer in 1833, remaining one of the few family-run houses in the region for over two centuries and now managed by seventh generation Frederic Rouzaud. Considered a visionary as one of the first producers to recognize the influence of terroir on Champagne, Louis Roederer acquired 15 hectares in the Verzenay Grand Cru in 1845 to have better control over how the grapes were grown, Roederer's holdings expanding over the next 150 years to 240 hectares of 1er and Grand Cru vineyards and producing its Champagne exclusively from estate vines, a rarity in the region. A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, the high elevation estate vineyards in Verzy are known for producing Pinot Noir that adds freshness, structure and complexity, while the Chardonnay grown in the cooler Chouilly vineyards contributes elegance and minerality to the 2015 vintage Brut. Employing strict selection and vinifying parcel by parcel, Roederer Chef de Cave Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon vinified 34% of the refined 2015 Louis Roederer Brut in oak casks with only a portion going through malolactic before aging it in bottle for 4 years, adding a relatively low 8 g. dosage upon disgorgement and storing it for at least six more months in the cellars to reveal richly textured fruit with fresh lively acidity and a creamy pin point mousse that begs for another sip.

Summed up by the Wine Advocate’s William Kelley as “a lovely Champagne,” the enticing 96 pt. 2015 Louis Roederer Brut reflects the House’s long-standing reputation for crafting exceptional vineyard-driven Champagne from the region’s top terroirs, an elegant vintage Champagne that’s well-priced for stocking the cooler to enjoy often, no special occasion required.

A great 2015 vintage champagne! Super-elegant synthesis of pinot noir and chardonnay character with a dazzling interplay of complex red apple, citrus and delicate floral aromas with racy acidity and chalky minerality, that is animating for mind and body. Unusually graceful finish for the vintage. 70% pinot noir from Verzy, the highest point of the Montagne de Reims, that’s also very close to the forest. 30% chardonnay from Chouilly, another rather cool location. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

A bright, chalky Champagne, finely balanced and appealing, with a range of nectarine and strawberry fruit flavors, plus notes of almond biscotti, pink grapefruit pith and elderflower. Packs a vivacious mousse that dances a foxtrot on the palate, carrying the flavors on the racy, lingering finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Drink now through 2030. 741 cases imported.

This is a delicious Champagne with its ripe white fruits and softened texture. It is totally mature, the wine balanced and ready. Drink this fine wine now.

The 2015 Vintage Brut is composed of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay. 24% of the wine went through malo-lactic, and 34% was aged in oak. The dosage is 8 grams per liter. It opens with notes of candied ginger, lime blossoms, and beeswax, leading to a core of grapefruit, yellow apples, bosc pears, plus a waft of allspice. The palate delivers decadent spiced apple flavors with citrusy sparks and a crisp, refreshing backbone, finishing long and opulent.

From the hot 2015 vintage which produced uneven results across the Champagne region comes this bright and fruity Champagne which benefited from grapes at the highest elevation in Verzy adding freshness and coolness to the palate. Brioche and strawberry patisserie notes on the nose with a touch of black pepper. Filled with red summer fruits on the palate, raspberries and strawberries from the majority of Pinot Noir in the blend (70%), this has a slightly full texture with crisp edges and juicy core. Fun, lovely freshness and exciting acidity but remaining round and wide. A gourmet style and one that Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon calls a ‘climate change’ vintage yet this keeps focus with tang and a touch of spice on the finish too.
