The dynamic expansion of Tuscan vineyards along the Tyrrhenian Sea has exploded in the last few decades. The terroir has proven varietally versatile, surprisingly so as the maritime influence modulates the Mediterranean climate. The well known pioneers of Bolgheri, Sassicaia, Guado al Tasso, and Le Macchiole lead the charge. A new appellation has emerged, a collection of sub-regions called The Tuscan Coast, or "Costa Toscana," comprised of five provinces — Massa, Grosseto, Liverno, Pisa, and Lucca. It was in Pisa's Fauglia Hills of the Tuscan Coast some 20 miles north of Bolgheri and west of Florence that Giusti and Fabio Zanza acquired a 19th century farm and winery in 1995. Since, they have mastered the Syrah grape here. Perbruno is is a full bodied Syrah, dark blackberry, with balance but significant tannins. Nemorino is is predominately Syrah with Sangiovese and Merlot, ripe and round and a remarkable bargain. Dulcamara, however, is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot that is rich and dense. The Coast certainly deserves exploration!

Plenty of complex aromas of dried orange, cherry and chocolate with some bark, too. Full body, dense and polished textures. Extremely flavorful and long. Drink in 2019. Made from organic grapes.
