You know the name well; every offer has sold out the same day published. Marcelo Pelleriti is his name, a resume so impressive, I could end this right here. "The first Argentine winemaker to receive 100 Points from Robert Parker for a Bordeaux wine" – he wears the honors well. Pomerol is his game in Bordeaux, "the unsung star" (per Wine Advocate) of the late Cathérine Père-Vergé's Pomerol estates of Le Gay & La Violette. A perfect score for the 2010 La Violette, and a 2012 La Violette which outscored Petrus as well as Le Pin! Yeah, Pelleriti's the man in Pomerol – and he's just as serious in Argentina.

Over the past couple of years you and I have enjoyed one phenomenal bottle after another. That's when he really made it rain; Abremundos became a household name around here; one freakishly incredible wine after another – Octava Bassa, Octava Alta, Octava Superior... he rolled out the vinous hits as well as he composes Grammy award-winning music. We drank, and we fell in love. Surely he could never top those incomparable thrillers…

Dubbed Vértigo, this near perfect scoring Valle de Uco treasure lit up "The Top 100 Wines of the Andes 2016" report – you couldn't get enough. So I returned to my buddy – avid guitar player, a man I walked many rows of ancient vines with when he hosted me down in Argentina – and I begged for more. This the latest release, 2015 Vertigo’s world premiere – sure to ascend to a position on a Top 100 list in 2019.

This co-fermented blend of malbec, syrah and cabernet franc shows tension and focus with dark berries, dark chocolate and spice. Hints of walnuts, too. Extremely long and solid. This is an inspirational wine. Drink or hold.

97 points, James Suckling (Mar 2019)
