There’s quite a ripe edge to the nose here with a dark-cherry and plum-conserve thread, as well as cedary oak, beef stock and an array of freshly ground baking spices. The palate has a strong, sinewy texture with a wealth of concentrated blackberries and blackcurrants. Long, bold and smooth finish. Drink or hold.

Bright medium ruby. Brooding aromas of blackberry, cassis, licorice pastille and bitter chocolate accented by fresh herbs. Juicy, suave and penetrating, conveying a captivating restrained sweetness to its blackberry, mulberry and spice flavors. Savory minerality energizes the middle palate and extends the finish. Perhaps a touch more inky and less sweet than the 2015 Grand Vin but very sophisticated in an Old World way, and suave and very long on the back end. Terrific subtle salinity throughout.

Refined and minerally, featuring medium-grained tannins behind the dark plum, blackberry and dark currant flavors. Slate and spice details show on the pure-tasting finish, with peppery accents. Drink now through 2024. 834 cases made, 300 cases imported.
