This is a stunning 2015 St. Emilion bargain. Chances are you may not be familiar with La Serre. The singular block vineyard is only 17 acres, planted on chalk, clay and sandy soils with average vine age of 35 years. La Serre sits on a south facing slope just yards away from the medieval town of St. Emilion and heads east toward Chateau Trotte Vieille and south toward Chateau Pavie Macquin. Serious neighborhood. Serious bargain!

Made from 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 Château La Serre is a ripe, sexy beauty that's packed with fruit. Black cherries, blueberries, leafy herbs and hints of tobacco all emerge from this ripe, opulent 2015 that has sweet tannin, a charming, forward style, moderate concentration, and a great finish. It should be a smoking value and delivers loads of pleasure already. Tasted twice.

Suave, cedary oak aromas with bright vanillin-dusted plums, raspberries and some graphite. The palate delivers clean-cut tannins, carrying flavors of blackberries and mulberries to an upbeat finish. Drink or hold.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 La Serre sports a medium bright garnet-purple color and is scented of warm plums, crushed blackberries and fragrant earth with wafts of black olives and mossy tree bark. Medium to full-bodied, finely crafted, refreshing and with lovely purity, it has a well-played frame of grainy tannins and a mineral note to the finish.
