The 2014 Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Furstentum Vieilles Vignes opens with a clear, intense and concentrated bouquet full of smoke and minerals, oranges, kumquats, biscuits and lychee perfume on hot stones. Full-bodied and rich but very elegant, with great finesse and vitality, this is a stunning Gewurz of great class. The tannins are present yet fine and give a firm structure, whereas the long finish shows complexity, freshness and a great balance. Picked September 24th and fermented down to 13.5% alcohol and 26 grams of residual sugar, this serious wine is one of the finest Gewurz I have tasted from this vintage, and it is also from one of the best vineyards for this grape in all of Alsace. (Tasted from Lot L83.)

A round and flavorful white with apricot and melon character. Some spice. Full body, lightly oily and plenty of dried fruit on the finish. Sweet finish. Drink now.
