I began using B21 about 2 years ago. Wish I had found them sooner. They represent about 70% to 80 % of my liquor buys. Only the odd things are purchased elsewhere. Once you use them you will be hooked. Inventory, professional staff, quick shipping and competative pricing are what I really appreciate. Try them, you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

"I was blown away by the wines I tasted this year from Flowers." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Long before the Sonoma Coast AVA was a thing, the Sonoma Coast style was being pioneered by Flowers in the far-flung reaches of the county out near Jenner and Fort Ross. Fast-forward a few decades and here we are, still looking at Flowers as the reference point for cool-climate California Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The latest flagship releases showcase a pair of excellent vintages in 2023 and 2024, but more importantly they deliver the utterly classic Flowers personality that has made them all-time best sellers and fan-favorites in California wine. And each one carries rock-solid critical praise as always.

The 94-point 2024 Chardonnay is "a terrific introduction to this range" with its "intensity and sleek, mouthwatering acidity that give this precision." The 2023 Pinot Noir is a likewise a 94-point gem and "a great reflection of the long, cool growing season." With strong press across the board, it's yet another proven performer that long-time fans should find checks every box in the Flowers paradigm. When consistent excellence is the name of the game, Flowers is a hall of fame player.

The aromas of honeysuckle, subtle green apples and pears are delightful. Medium-bodied with a lively phenolic texture and flavors of limes, umami and sea salt. Crunchy, too. An energetic chardonnay. Drink and enjoy.

94 points, James Suckling (Feb 2025)

Lemon sorbet and orange sherbet, plus details of lemongrass, lemon verbena, and both fresh and dried ginger notes, show touches of saline and white tea on the long and detailed finish, with plenty of intensity and sleek, mouthwatering acidity that give this precision. Drink now through 2036. 23,500 cases made.

93 points, MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator (Apr 2026)

The 2024 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a terrific introduction to the range. Apricot, white flowers, mint, white pepper and tangerine oil are nicely pushed forward. The warmer season yielded an especially forward, open-knit Chardonnay. It's a style that works quite well at this level.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is a medium ruby color and is fresh on the nose with notes of lifted spice, compact red berries, Bing cherries, roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, with a polished and fine texture, a silky feel, and clean elegance through the finish. It’s a lovely and charming Pinot Noir with a lot of finesse to drink over the coming 8-10 years.

94 points, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck (Jul 2025)

This aromatic and savory Pinot brings aromas of roasted shiitake, black plum and clove on the nose, while the palate brings spicy energy and flavors of blackberry, plum skin, sweet cinnamon and forest floor across a long, meandering finish.

93 points, Tom R. Capo, Wine Enthusiast (Apr 2025)

It's one of the first 2023 Sonoma pinots to be released and a great reflection of the long, cool growing season. Tangy, fresh and well balanced, with intricate orange zest, cinnamon, red cherry and black tea flavors on a vibrant, acid-driven texture. Medium- to full-bodied. Drink or hold.

93 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Oct 2024)

Salty fresh ocean spray with cranberry and strawberry scents on the nose. Some forest floor and wet soil accents add the savoury touch but this is lovely and expressive on the nose. Smooth and almost subtle, it’s not super bright, more knitted down and quiet right now - straight with a spiced vein that stays from start to finish. I like the succulence and precision however, there is still great acidity, but this presents more power than poise right now. 3.65pH. The first time this wine will be sold via the Place de Bordeaux. Owner Huneeus Vintners, director Jen Beloz and winemaker Chantal Forthun.

93 points, Georgina Hindle, Decanter (Jul 2025)

The 2023 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) is another terrific wine from Flowers. Bright, aromatic and lifted, it offers up an exotic mélange of crushed red berry fruit, cedar, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and dried herbs. Strong floral and savory inflections lend energy throughout. The 2023 is light on its feet and quite delicate, not to mention long on personality.

92 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Jan 2025)

Fresh and focused, with raspberry and blood orange coulis lined with rooibos tea and savory notes. A subtle mineral thread supports the finish. Offers a textbook Sonoma Coast profile. Drink now through 2029. 34,600 cases made.

From an outstanding vintage for fans and collectors of California Pinot Noir, these top rated 2021 selections offer a comprehensive range of styles matching an array of individual tastes, all value priced for stocking up on a favorite and perfect for mixing a case.

Regardless of which microclimate it hails from, Pinot Noir in the Sonoma Coast AVA enjoyed consistently moderate growing conditions in 2021, with warm weather in the early part of the year kicking off the growing season early. The summer was marked by cool temperatures and dry conditions without prolonged heat spikes that yielded even ripening with extended hangtime and steady yields. Calling the 2021 Sonoma Coast Pinots "fabulous," Antonio Galloni of Vinous describes them as "potent, brooding wines with dark fruit profiles and tons of textural depth" their deep structure and superb balance promising longevity. Situated about 350 miles south of Sonoma's Russian River Valley, the Central Coast also enjoyed a cooler growing season in 2021, described by Jeb Dunnuck as an "undeniably great vintage" that "will be loved by those who prioritize finesse and elegance." Experiencing a long even growing season without any heat spikes, dry conditions in the Central Coast required a judicious use of irrigation in 2021 that produced healthy fruit but smaller yields, the top talent in the region producing rich and age worthy Pinot. Jeb Dunnuck describes the 2021 Central Coast Pinots as "fresh, vibrant, yet concentrated wines with the up-front purity and charm to drink well today, yet the structure and depth to age gracefully," while Antonio Galloni of Vinous declared the favorable conditions produced "a wide range of exceptional, world-class wines."

Summing up the 2021 vintage for California Pinot, the Wine Spectator's Aaron Romano declares "2021 has all the makings of a banner year for California, especially for Pinot Noir. There were no extreme heatwaves and yields were slightly lower than average, which has translated into reds with expressive fruit character and natural vibrancy," these impressive 2021 Cali Pinot Noir selections showcasing a range of styles offered at value pricing to enjoy now and over the next decades.

2023 Ramey Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview (750ml)
Chardonnay from Sonoma Coast, California

96JS 95D 94WA 94WS

A vivid, fresh, almost chewy wine that's vibrant in crisp apple and tangy lime flavors on the signature creamy texture of Ramey. Flavors emerge on the palate, including minerals, chalk and touches of flint and lemon zest. The grapes come from the Charles Ranch from vines planted in 1982. Drinkable now, but best from 2029.

96 points, Jim Gordon, James Suckling (Apr 2025)

Sourced exclusively from the Martinelli Charles Ranch, located three miles inland from the Pacific at 340 metres elevation, surrounded by redwoods, bay laurels, and oaks. The vineyard was planted in 1982 by George Charles (Lee Martinelli Jr.’s maternal grandfather), and Ramey has worked with this fruit since 2008. "It’s a large, undulating site," says Claire Ramey. "We take fruit from many different aspects, but the blend has been largely from south-west-facing blocks, along with some less west-facing and a few east-facing sites, all sitting at roughly 305 metres and mostly above the fog." Lovely sea-spray aromatics fill this medium-bodied wine's nose and palate, boasting fantastic bracing acidity and an astounding baseline of intense, creamy fruit. Best enjoyed alongside grilled scallops or lobster mac and cheese—the wine’s taut acid backbone and creamy texture will elevate both the food and the wine.

95 points, Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter (Jan 2025)

The 2023 Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview comes from Martinelli’s Charles Ranch Vineyard. Originally planted in 1981 to Clone 4 and Old Wente, it’s located just three miles from the Pacific Ocean at 1,115 feet in elevation, and vines are planted in Goldridge and Josephine soils. The grapes were harvested October 18-21, and the wine was barrel-fermented. It matured for 12 months in 10% new French oak barrels and was bottled in January of 2025. It’s surprisingly open on the nose, with aromas of red apple, apricot, panna cotta, graham cracker and citrus blossom perfume. The medium-bodied palate is silky and vibrant, with pure, concentrated, saline-laced flavors and a very long, taut finish.

94+ points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate (Aug 2025)

There's impressive precision and focus to the flavors in this white, with pure Meyer lemon, pomelo, yuzu and fresh ginger accents, plus a crunchy sea salt detail. Honeycrisp apple, lemon verbena and lemon blossom notes emerge on the finish, where the vibrant acidity gives this a firm backbone. Drink now through 2037. 3,429 cases made.
