B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More "The 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is a wine of pedigree and class. Aromatic, vibrant and delineated, the Riserva captures all the best qualities of the year." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Now under the third generation of the Bianchi family, Castello di Monsanto is one of the most forward-looking yet traditional estates in Chianti Classico. After all, founder Aldo Bianchi was the visionary who first choose to bottle a single-vineyard wine from their prized Il Poggio parcel, and now his granddaughter, Laura, runs the estate with the same view toward the future that her father and grandfather did, and they now produce some of the most acclaimed, traditionally styled wines in the region. Another "sublime effort" from an epic vintage, the 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva is the estate's flagship expression of its philosophy and terroir, an ideal Tuscan microclimate that, along with the estate's use of Slavonian oak, produces Sangiovese wines of artisanal finesse and refinement. With a mountain of sterling critical praise, including several 95-point reviews, the 2021 Riserva stacks up as an all-time great value buy from Italy at well under $30, so you can (and should) consider stacking it by the case.

B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More There are few things we love more than a great California value Cabernet, and today we have three, each one a serious performer with at least one 93-point score and an unbelievably affordable price. We'll start with the "balanced and elegant" 2023 Method California Cabernet, made entirely from declassified Lake County fruit. "This selection does not disappoint," notes Wine Enthusiast, while James Suckling calls it "so delicious." Josh Phelps (no relation to Joseph) has cultivated a reputation for himself as arguably the best source of ultra-value Cabernet Sauvignon in California. ""Having become a rock-steady value over recent vintages," it was no surprise to his 2023 Grounded Cabernet land on Wine Spectator's list of the Top 10 Value Wines of 2025. "A wine of pure pleasure" according to Decanter's 93-point review, showing "textbook, succulent Cabernet flavors with an immediately accessible profile." Finally, the 2023 Vina Robles Paso Robles Cabernet shows why Paso Cabernet is very much its own thing, not just another half-hearted attempt at copying the Napa profile. "Rich, spicy and well-structured in tannins, this full-bodied wine tastes bold, deep and intense." James Suckling's 93-point review neatly sums up what Paso Cab is all about, and the 2023 Vina Robles offers a prime example for an easy price. We're betting you didn't think your next go-to house red would be a California Cabernet at under $20, but here they are. Now all you have to do is make room for a couple cases (of each).

B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More Domaine de l'Amandine's Mathilde Suter and her father have an enviable knack for bringing out the absolute best of the vines in their wines, and yet somehow they do it while keeping their prices almost unbelievably affordable. Indeed, these are some of the greatest buys in the appellation. The 2023 Seguret, a Syrah-dominant blend, offers everything that makes Seguret such a hotbed of savvy picks with unbeatable quality-to-price ratio. "Quite possibly our direct-import Rhône value of the year." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Rhône Buyer The sandy, limestone slopes of the estate's vineyards bring out the most charming qualities of each varietal, with the depth of the Syrah forming a sturdy core that's accented by brighter notes from the Grenache component, all the with vibrant energy of the vintage. "I have loved previous vintages of this exceptional Rhône overachiever in the past, and when I got reacquainted with it at this year’s WineParis/Vinexpo, I was thrilled to find that it’s as good as it’s ever been in the 2023 vintage," notes Andrew. The wine's charming aromatics are full-on Rhône in every sense, while the palate "is deeper and more structured than you’d expect at this price point," suggesting that the 2023 Seguret could be your new house red for years to come if you stock up at our must see, case-buy price. Savvy, keen-eyed bargain hunters should also take serious interest in the 2022 La Montagne, a Grenache-based blend from the domaine's clay-limestone terraces. Brighter in style yet also more structured than the 2023 Seguret, the 2022 La Montagne offers "a complete and harmonious Southern Rhône profile that can compete with many wines at twice its price." Finally, do not miss the "extraordinarily pretty yet understated" 2024 Seguret Blanc Bel Air, a blend of Roussanne, Marsanne, and Viognier that's one of the more impressive 2024 white Rhônes we've come across in its price point. We're thrilled to be back on our game with Amandine after a lengthy hiatus, and this trio of new, in-stock arrivals are sure to leave our legions of Rhône fans with huge smiles on their faces from the standout style and incredible value to be found from this under-the-radar gem of a domaine.

|
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More An exceptional Super Tuscan combining the power and roundness of Merlot with Sangiovese's structure and acidity, Mazzei's Siepi is a perennial collectible all-star that has seen a fanatical following grow up around the previous several vintages. Just eight miles from Siena in the historic village of Fonterutoli, 24 generations of the Mazzei family have been owners of the Fonterutoli Castle in Chianti Classico since 1435, boasting a rich legacy of crafting exceptional wines as one of the oldest winemaking families in Italy and the world. Known for being the first winery to plant Merlot in the region over three decades ago, Mazzei's combination of forward vision and steadfast traditionalism have garnered a consistent track record of excellence that few of their contemporaries can match, with the flagship Siepi as the cornerstone. The four vintages on offer today all showcase the recent trajectory of this magnificent Super Tuscan best-seller, starting with the "classy, elegant and super-polished" 2020 in magnum format. It's no surprise that the epic 2021 vintage produced "certainly one of the best editions of Siepi we've seen so far" per Wine Advocate's Monica Larner, while the double 97-point 2022 is an equally prodigious follow-up to its monumental predecessors in 2019 and 2021, as well as a worthy effort for the wine's 30th anniversary bottling. Finally, the 2023 has already racked up a pair of 97 points scores, with more surely to come. "Classy stuff," it's a lovely representation of the balance of the vintage and my indeed provide more immediate accessibility while you wait for the long-haul vintages to come to maturity. Whether you're building a Siepi vertical or just building a collection of Tuscany's greatest modern wines, the four vintages on offer today will add some serious depth and gravitas to any cellar.

B-21 Top Recommendation

Decanter review) From a top Haut-Medoc chateau classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, the impressive 93 pt. 2019 Belle-Vue offers rich aromatic spiced fruit with velvety ripe tannins, a beautifully balanced and age worthy Left Bank blend promising "to be a gem of a wine" according to Jeb Dunnuck and bargain priced for everyday enjoyment. Located along the D2 just west of Macau, Chateau Belle-Vue is visible from the roadside just south of the massive iron gates of Margaux's Chateau Giscours and barely two kilometers from the Gironde. Releasing its first vintage in 1996, Chateau Belle-Vue is a relatively young estate situated near one of Bordeaux's original drainage canals that separates it from Giscours, sharing a similar name but not to be confused with St. Emilion's Chateau Bellevue. Planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon, the 15-hectare vineyard has deep rough gravelly soil considered the region's best terroir near the Garonne tributary and bordered by woodland to the east, the vines averaging around 39 years of age with some planted nearly a century ago. Boasting an unusually high percentage of Petit Verdot that adds a distinctly aromatically spiced component to the Grand Vin, the deeply structured 2019 Belle-Vue was aged for 14 months in 30% new French oak to reveal fresh, earthy fruit balanced by savory acidity, yielding "a gorgeous bottle of wine that will keep for over a decade" according to Jeb Dunnuck. Describing it as "powerful and burly," Antonio Galloni of Vinous calls the 93 pt. 2019 Belle-Vue "an ideal wine for the dinner table" its appealing spiced flavors and fresh dense tannins promising a decade of drinking pleasure at a superb value.

| 5 Sentidos Pechuga de Mole Poblano Mezcal (750ml) | ||
| From Oaxaca, Mexico | ||

B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More "Delfino is absolutely nailing the style, and it's no wonder this expression has developed such an avid legion of fans." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Spirits Buyer If you're a mezcal fan or collector and you haven't jumped on board with 5 Sentidos yet, you're missing out on some of the most compelling, artfully crafted offerings in the category. The brainchild of American Jason Cox, the project began as a collection of house mezcals selected for his upstart Oaxaca restaurant El Destilado. This transplant with an insatiable thirst for artisan agave spirits spent countless hours and miles traversing Oaxaca and its surrounding environs, scouting out the best artisan mezcal producers no one had yet heard of. We're talking true family operations that run on sweat and calloused hands and that produce stunningly complex, singular expressions you won't find anywhere else. Today, the 5 Sentidos range offers a dizzying array of options and styles, but an undisputed fan-favorite is the Pechuga de Mole Poblano from Defino Tobón Mejia, a show-stopping representation of the style. Defino ferments the agave cupreata (aka Papalote) with a freshly slaughtered chicken from his back yard, dousing it in homemade mole poblano in the process. "A veritable bomb of savory, meaty goodness," the Pechuga de Mole is a wild ride of complexity and intrigue. If you're already familiar with 5 Sentidos, you'll no doubt recall that this item has been out of stock for while, and it's hard to say when more will be available after this parcel is gone, so you'll definitely want to add this gem to your shelf while you can, and if you haven't discovered them yet, this is the perfect introduction to the top-tier craftsmanship that goes into all of Jason Cox's selections.

| 2023 Domaine Clos de la Chapelle Beaune Les Champs Pimont 1er Cru (750ml) | ||
| Pinot Noir from Beaune, Burgundy, France | ||
|
B-21 Top Recommendation
Read More Of all the new direct-import discoveries to join our portfolio last year, perhaps none reach the heights of quality that Domaine Clos de la Chapelle does. This remarkable domaine under the direction of Pierre Merguey and his American partner Mark O'Connell is still flying under the radar, but they're poised for a big breakout into the elite echelon. The domaine's vineyard holdings are impressive to say the least, centered around their monopole Volnay Clos de la Chapelle 1er Cru. Top to bottom, the 2023s were incredibly impressive on both occasions we tasted them, at Wine Paris in February and again at the domaine in April. The critical press is equally impressed on a consistent basis, as the domaine has racked up solid accolades from Wine Spectator, Burghound, Inside Burgundy, and View From the Cellar. The crown jewel is indeed the "utterly stunning" monopole Volnay 1er Cru Clos de la Chapelle, a 96-point showstopper that's "all about finesse and its silky texture, with ... terrific dimension." The double 95-point Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds is itself a world-class expression of this hallowed site that can stand toe-to-toe with the likes of d'Angerville and Montille at a fraction of their prices. Gilman exclaims, "I have always loved this terroir since my very earliest days drinking Burgundy and it seems pretty clear to me that today, no one makes a better example of Taillepieds than the team at Clos de la Chapelle!" The JG94 Volany Santentots du Milieu is a bona fide gem in its own. "Remarkably sensual," the 2023 is "a simply great bottle of Santenots du Milieu in the making." The sleeper gem, however, is the Beaune Champs Pimot 1er Cru. The lesser-know lieu-dit turned out a fantastic 2023 with a "complex aromatic constellation" and a "a very good core of fruit, tangy acids, fine focus and balance and a long, suavely tannic finish." It's safe to say we haven't been this excited to introduce a new producer in a long time, and our direct access to the domaine's cellars makes the entire line-up some of the sharpest collectible buys in our Burgundy inventory.
