Hands-down one of my favorite spirits of 2025, this is an absolutely gorgeous expression of agave that you need to taste to believe. Maestro Victor Ramos is one of the mezcal game’s legit all-stars, and this blend of karwinsii and potatorum is a showcase of high-toned brilliance and shimmering personality that lives up to its moniker. The nose is a soaring constellation of lime zest, jicama, aloe, fresh-cut sweet grass, and apple blossom on a foundation of painfully beautiful, clean minerality, the complexity of which defies true description. It expands to include dried red currant, dried grasses, the savory side of agave, and a subtle smoky note that almost comes off as fresh asphalt. The palate offers up super-lively, racy energy that plays incredibly well with the medium weight and texture. Dark currant and anise are upfront, along with smoky, volcanic minerality, black peppercorn, and a complex amalgam of exotic spices. There’s some elevated lemon pith and geranium in there alongside the graphite and crushed gravel of the medium-long finish that sizzles with nervous energy. I don’t generally claim to want to drink anything all day, but…I could drink this all day.
