"This is quite simply a stunning representation of a treasured Jamaican rum style that’s impossible not to fall in love with." - Andrew Kitz, B-21 Spirits Buyer
Home to names like Hampden Estate and Long Pond, Trelawney Parish is ground zero for many hardcore Jamaican rum fanatics. While Hampden's reputation extends beyond the most committed insider's circles, Long Pond tends to fly under the radar in the wider market. Never bottled under its own label until 2021 and known mostly for its contributions to National Rums of Jamaica's proprietary brands, the facility has had a tumultous recent history starting in 2012. Before that, however, their double-retort pot stills were turning out some of the country's most compelling juice, which found its way into the hands of intrepid independent bottlers in the form of some truly excellent single casks.
This particular 15-year-old stunner from the Impex Collection, distilled in 2007, is "a classic example of Long Pond’s famed ITP marque ... [and] a grand slam for fans of top-tier, aged Jamaican rum," as B-21 spirits buyer Andrew Kitz puts it. "Perfectly balanced and warm" with all the hallmark luxury and complexity of high-end Jamaican pot-still distillate, it's a showstopper in every sense, taking home 98 points, Double Gold Medals, and numerous category-best awards in last year's San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Whether you're a die-hard tiki head or someone who just appeciates razor-sharp, savvy buys in aged collectible spirits, this incredibly compelling stunner is what you're looking for. |
