NV Paul Bara Brut Grand Rose (750ml)

Sparkling from Champagne, France

Mouthwatering and harmonious, this is lightly chalky in texture, with a zesty layer of pink grapefruit peel, ground ginger and spicy mineral underscoring the white peach and blanched almond flavors. Offers a plush, lingering finish. Disgorged December 2018. Drink now through 2023. 700 cases imported.

92 points, Alison Napjus, Wine Spectator (Dec 2019)

This wine is 80 percent pinot noir, including 12 percent Bouzy Rouge for color; the balance is chardonnay. The current release, based on the 2014 vintage, feels brisk, bright and sunny, with the sweet-savory balance of Red Zinger tea. The red fruit lasts, suggesting it’s best enjoyed with dinner, especially if there’s Peking duck on the menu. (Disgorged 12/18)

The NV Brut Grand Rosé is wonderfully understated and nuanced. Fresh flowers, crushed red berries, mint and white pepper all give the Rosé brilliant top notes, and a good bit of energy as well. Despite its recent disgorgement, the Grand Rosé is showing quite well today. Stylistically, it is a bit more taut than the other Champagnes in this range. Disgorged: October, 2019.

90 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous (Dec 2019)
