Why try to sell white Armagnac when you can sell something called Cobrafire? That’s what led PM Spirits’ Nico Palazzi to develop this exceptional eau-de-vie that is, in fact, white Armagnac in everything but name. Distilled at the renowned Domaine d’Esperance in Bas-Armagnac from half Baco and half Folle Blanche, this is right in every spirit geek’s wheelhouse. Let’s start with the ABV – while most Blanche Armagnac is proofed way down to around 40%, the Cobrafire is bottled at full 52% still strength, giving it uncommon weight and texture. But the artisanal distillation also means the spirit is super smooth in mouthfeel, with no harsh edges or undue heat. A heady aromatic profile starts off with loads of tropical fruits, bubble gum, and candied apple. There’s a lovely, yeasty, brioche undertone behind all that fruit too, as well as some Girl Scout shortbread cookie in the background. The mouthfeel is exceedingly smooth, with the viscosity of the full proof, yet it glides effortlessly across the palate with a vinous intensity that lets you know you’re drinking grape spirit. The fruit flavors are just as large and in charge as on the nose, initially in the white peach/apricot realm but soon moving to red cherry, plum, and elderberry with star anise also making an appearance. Sip it neat or get your mixology on. Whatever you choose to do with it, the Cobrafire will add a whole new dimension to your bar game.

Technically, this is classified as “eau de vie de raisin,” not Armagnac Blanche. It's still a dynamic sip: a fleeting peach note subsides into green apple and plum skin, finishing with white pepper, honeysuckle and plenty of cobra-like bite.
