It's no secret that the 2024 Loire vintage tested everyone's mettle, all the way up to the very top of the hierarchy, so when the 2024 Reverdy Les Coutes became our best-selling Sancerre of the year, we couldn't wait to get our hands on the 2025 vintage. After all, the campaign was stark departure from 2024, with bright, warm, sunny conditions prevailing almost from start to finish, so we expected great things from this exceptional domaine. Well, the domaine did not disappoint in 2025, turning out not only a stunning, 94-point Les Coutes but also an absolutely beguiling 93-point rosé.
Les Coutes is a single parcel of 50-year-old vines on Kimmeridgian limestone that has a reputation for producing densely textured, weighty wines, and that is certainly borne out in 2025, made all the more so by the incredible vintage conditions. The 2025 Les Coutes Sancerre conveys everything Sancerre fans are looking for in a top-tier single-vineyard expression. "Varietal purity, terroir clarity, and textbook vintage character – it hits the trifecta," writes Andrew, "Take your time with it if you open it now, but stash some away for a few years, and you’ll be rewarded with a near-flawless example of single-vineyard Sancerre from a great vintage." The 2025 Terre de Maimbray Sancerre Rosé is every bit the stellar vintage representation as the Les Coutes, "one of the prettiest Sancerre rosés I’ve had in a few years," as described by Andrew. "Plush, inviting aromatics" and a palate of "supreme elegance and poise" come together in an "irresistible gem" that delivers more bang for the buck than just about any rosé out there.
For those of you who got in on the 2024 Les Coutes, you'll remember that availability was limited, and it sold out in remarkably quick fashion, so don't hesitate for a second on these 2025s, as the small but excellent crop didn't leave much to go around.
It speaks volumes to the standards at Reverdy that the 2024 Les Coutes was our best-selling Sancerre of the year, given the difficult vintage. So it stands to reason that this bottling should shine in the bright, sunny 2025 vintage, and shine it does. Tight out of the gate, it repays patience in spades with a gorgeous aromatic constellation of spring pea shoots, Kaffir lime zest, tarragon, kumquat, Anjou pear, and sweet jasmine, while the Maimbray chalk terroir underpins the whole profile. The palate offers outstanding tension and energy, with flavors of spicy basil, green apple, concentrated lime, cardamom, and chervil peeking out across the lithe, elegant texture. The soil signature is evident in that texture, taking on a slightly salty, briny character on the finish. Varietal purity, terroir clarity, and textbook vintage character – it hits the trifecta.
