The 2025 Muscadet “la Pépie” from Rémi Branger and Gwénaëlle Croix is a fine example of the vintage. The bouquet is bright and zesty, offering up scents of lemon, breadfruit, briny ocean breeze, wet stone minerality and a topnote of lemongrass. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and beautifully complex, with a fine core of fruit, lovely mineral undertow and grip, a fine spine of acidity and a long, impeccably balanced and complex finish. This is first class Muscadet and most impressive considering that it is Domaine de la Pépière’s entry level wine!

Pépière’s entry-level gem really benefits from the sunny 2025 vintage. If you pour it at fridge temperature, let it come up a bit and give it some swirls. The nose is a lovely combination of plush lemon and green apple, white lily, and nice granite soil tones. The palate gains depth on the middle with some air, so give it a chance to do so, and you’ll get flavors of apple, yellow pear, kumquat, and oyster shell, with nicely balanced acidity throughout. A great aperitif choice.
