White Walnut Estate is planted to dozens of selections/clones that Chris Mazepink has amassed over the last 21 years. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines that are produced from White Walnut Estate are always a field blend, a polyculture of each of these selections/clones rather than one specific clonal bottling. Cluster Morphology & Architecture. Hens and Chicks. Smaller berries. Thicker skins. Nuance. Energy. Acid retention. These are things that Chris thinks intensely about. They’re the hallmark of someone who has spent over two decades in vineyards and understands the complexity in flavor and aroma that can be achieved from the mindful combination of soil, varietal, clone, farming and winemaking regimen.
