The 2024 Grüner Veltliner Achleiten Smaragd grows on gneiss and is made from vines over 80 years old. The nose is quite shy and not yet ready. On the palate, subtle yeast still dominates. However, the texture and shape reveal concentration, vivid lemon freshness, beautiful stoniness and exquisite tautness. The best is yet to come in this taut, linear and dynamic wine.

This complete, high-end gruner veltliner has grace and a breathtaking, silky texture on the medium- to full-bodied palate. It has a very wide spectrum of stone-fruit aromas with quite a prominent note of Reine Claude plums, but the interwoven wild herbs create the most excitement. Just a hint of melted butter in the very long finish. Sustainable. Vegan. Drink or hold.
