The 2024 Falkenlay GG Pündericher Marienburg comes from 80- to 90-year-old vines in an original plot with a deep gray slate terroir. Bottled in early August 2025, the wine offers a deep, aromatic and rather discreet yet refined and elegant bouquet with sur lie and flinty (gray) slate aromas, whereas the delicate yet concentrated fruit opens slowly but gains in intensity in the glass. The attack on the palate is generous and creamy but also elegant, fresh and finely racy. The mid-palate is round, rich and juicy, with ripe stone fruit aromas. The saline and lemon-tart finish is still a bit grippy and asks for more bottle aging or at least a generous aeration in the carafe. This is very promising and developing slowly. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2026.

The 2024 Riesling Pündericher Marienburg Falkenlay Grosses Gewächs is the gray slate expression of the GGs. Reduction still defines the nose, while the concentrated yet svelte palate tingles with a beautifully taut, lemony brightness that moves into cool stoniness. Salt makes the mouth water amid all this citric beauty. The 2024 has yet to unfold. (Bone-dry)

Mind-bendingly stony and spicy, this an extremely expressive and racy Mosel GG with a very compact core on the medium-bodied palate. Intense aromas of lemon blossoms, dried flowers and floral honey. Very long crushed rock and chalk dust finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drink or hold.
