A broad red, offering cherry, plum, iron and spice flavors, this is moderately dense, with refined tannins lining the finish. Sangiovese and Merlot. Drink now through 2030. 43,300 cases made, 29,000 cases imported.

Under the guidance of winemaker Federico Cerelli, Castello di Gabbiano boasts one of the most accessibly priced Chianti Classico annatas on offer. While not necessarily the most distinct, it delivers attractive red berry and potpourri scents. Candied red cherry and cinnamon flavours take the relay. Vibrant acidity meets gentle tannins in this modestly concentrated red. A dollop each of Merlot and Colorino lends some mid-palate flesh. Graciously round and smooth overall.
