Stylistically, this is an earthy, dark-fruited, and notably muscular expression of Pinot Noir, oozing dusty mineral tones, saddle leather, and loamy earth. These savoury elements are interlaced with mild Indian spice, cherry and blood orange fruit, and layers of cedarwood throughout. Fine-grained tannins provide structure, while a pleasantly juicy finish keeps the wine lifted and engaging despite its depth and power. The 2024 Baby Blue Pinot Noir from Blue Rock Vineyard is sourced from the estate’s 30-acre Gapstone Vineyard in Petaluma Gap AVA. The wine is a blend of five clones—Pommard, 115, Mount Eden, Calera, and Swan—with 25% whole-cluster fermentation and a three-day cold soak. Monthly lees stirring was carried out by winemaker Aaron Pott to enhance texture and depth.
