More perfumed and immediately attractive than Bonnivières, the 2023 Côte-Rôtie Bassenon reveals aromas of rose petals, dark cherries, gentian, smoke and cedar, subtly accented by nuances of lead pencil. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and structured, it is delicately smoky, framed by velvety yet well-defined tannins, and concludes with a long, ethereal finish marked by gentle spice. It's a particularly accomplished rendition.

The 2023 Côte Rôtie Bassenon has a deep purple hue as well as gorgeous notes of black raspberries, liquid violets, crushed stone, and tons of background spicy, meaty nuances on the nose. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a nicely concentrated mid-palate and ripe tannins. It needs 4-5 years to settle down and should evolve nicely over the following 15 years or more. Drink 2030-2041.

The expressive 2023 Côte-Rôtie Bassenon checks in at 13% alcohol, starting with ripe blackberry, licorice, gentle wood smoke and hints of graphite. Medium-bodied and quite forward, the 2023 reveals its class at this youthful stage, offering elevated ripeness and substance, neatly balanced by notable freshness. Best after 2027.
