First of the Chardonnays at this tasting, the 2023 Chardonnay The Estate Vineyards pours a bright yellow color. It’s a bit musky initially, with notes of baked yellow apples, Parmesan, chamomile, and baking spice. Full-bodied, it’s more attractive on the palate, with a ripe, juicy feel and notes of golden orchard fruit lasting on the finish. It’s going to be well-suited to drink over the next 2-3 years.

The 2023 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard is a fine entry-level offering from Hansel. Bright and lifted, with lovely precision, the 2023 is a terrific introduction to the year. Pear, apricot, dried herbs, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes build nicely. ...this is a terrific value.
