There are few things we love more than a great California value Cabernet, and today we have three, each one a serious performer with at least one 93-point score and an unbelievably affordable price. We'll start with the "balanced and elegant" 2023 Method California Cabernet, made entirely from declassified Lake County fruit. Josh Phelps (no relation to Joseph) has cultivated a reputation for himself as arguably the best source of ultra-value Cabernet Sauvignon in California. ""Having become a rock-steady value over recent vintages," it was no surprise to his 2023 Grounded Cabernet land on Wine Spectator's list of the Top 10 Value Wines of 2025. "A wine of pure pleasure" according to Decanter's 93-point review, showing "textbook, succulent Cabernet flavors with an immediately accessible profile."
Finally, the 2023 Vina Robles Paso Robles Cabernet shows why Paso Cabernet is very much its own thing, not just another half-hearted attempt at copying the Napa profile.
