Sweet red berries, red cherries, wet stones and a touch of hibiscus on the nose. Precise and a bit incisive on the nose. The palate shows a full body for pinot, with masses of chalky tannins caressing it. Still precise, but it does feel structured in a very good way. Long, long finish. Drink from 2028.

Bouchard's delicious Caillerets offers lovely plum and black cherry fruit with hints of rose petals, liquorice and smoke. The texture is voluptuous, yet there is abundant tannic grip. The grapes are from just over 3ha, spread over three parcels: one at the steep northern end of the vineyard near the gate and two others planted across the mid-slope. Despite the generosity of 2023, yields were modest (35hl/ha), and Frédéric Weber and his team sorted extensively to remove shrivelled grapes and maintain freshness.

Moderately generous wood and menthol aromas serve as the backdrop for the spicy and overtly floral-suffused dark berry fruit scents. The supple and round flavors possess acceptably density though the mouthfeel is sleek and classy, all wrapped in a mineral-driven and beautifully long, well-balanced and youthfully austere finale. This is lovely while offering the hallmark refinement of Caillerets. *Outstanding*
