B-21 Top Recommendation Read More
One of the biggest shake-ups in the Burgundy landscape took place earlier this year, and now collectors have a new name to add to their shortlist of must-haves. With announcement earlier this spring that Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils had been sold to Artemis Domaines, the follow on announcement was that all of Bouchard's most prized domaine holdings would be bottled under a new label, Vignobles des Cabottes. With the exceptionally talented Frederic Weber now focusing only on the Cabottes wines, this is set to be new benchmark name in collectible Burgundy, with glowing critical acclaim across the board to prove it. In other words, same outstanding Bouchard class, just a new name on the bottle.
Weber leveraged the excellent 2023 vintage to craft another stellar range of wines. Naturally, the highlights include the three reference-point Grands Crus on offer today. The double 96-point 2023 Corton Le Corton Grand Cru is a top-tier expression of the domaine's famous parcel, a "beautifully defined" example that's already "singing." The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is "an old school Chevy that is really quite stunning," according to Allen Meadows, who tagged it with his rare Don't Miss! designation, while Neal Martin confidently proclaims, "Decades of pleasure await." Finally, the crown-jewel 2023 Montrachet Grand Cru is an apex white Burgundy collectible and another Don't Miss! wine per Meadows. Massive scores from Jasper Morris, Neal Martin, William Kelley, and James Suckling put additional emphasis on the supreme pedigree of this iconic cuvée.
The 1ers Crus are no less intriguing, with Bouchard's famed expressions hitting the mark big time under their new label. The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is "again among the appellation's top wines" as it displays the hallmark "excellent depth and precision" that this cuvée is known for. The 2023 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvee Carnot is "gorgeously perfumed, very Volnay" per Jasper Morris, with "a suave, seamless profile" as noted by Wine Advocate's William Kelley. In addition, keen-eyed buyers will spot a few razor-sharp overachievers, led by the 94-point 2023 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres, a "delight" according to Decanter. The 2023 Meursault Les Clous showcase "a classy bouquet, offering elegance weight and sunshine together, a really fine balance, with a lingering finish," as described by Jasper Morris.
We just secured a comprehensive introductory parcel at incredible pricing, including several wines in 1.5L magnum format, that invites our Burgundy fans and collectors to go big on these soon-to-be-legendary wines at the best prices in the country. |

A ripe, intense wine that grows on your palate, with substantial salinity, intense flavors delivered in a crescendo and a broad finish. Extremely long, with increasing weight and concentration. Still, nothing showy, and it’s rather timid. Drink from 2030.

This staggeringly good wine is perhaps just ahead of last year's monumental effort, with profuse aromas that range from ripe pear, melon and crisp nectarine to white flowers, spice and butter. There is a balance of lovely intensity, weight and a creamy texture that seemingly lasts forever. The wine is a product of technical director Frédéric Weber's precision winemaking, with each section of their massive 0.89ha holding grown and vinified separately. Still maturing, this will be a wine for the ages. Ideally, one would wait at least a decade before opening this, but it will last 70 years or more.
98 points, Charles Curtis, Decanter (Oct 2024)
There is a difference with Cabotte. The fruit here swells immediately on the palate, golden grapes, such a lively tension here which is amazing given the wealth of fruit. The sucrosity makes one ask the question if there is residual sweetness but no. Just an immense mouthful. Drink from 2033-2045.

The 2023 Montrachet Grand Cru is more powerful, offering up aromas of pear, clear honey, vine blossom, buttered popcorn and musky peach, followed by a full-bodied, ample and layered palate that's rich and textural, with terrific mid-palate density and a long, lively finish. Other producers' Montrachets may carry more cachet, but after 10 years in bottle, served blind, it's often Bouchard who takes the crown.
95-97 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Jan 2025)
This is aromatically quite similar to the La Cabotte if perhaps even spicier. There is even more volume to the concentrated big-bodied flavors that brim with sappy dry extract that does an excellent job of buffering the firm acid spine shaping the bone-dry and hugely long finish. It's not a revelation that this is a powerful wine as Montrachet, especially from the Puligny side, but in this case what I find interesting is how much it builds from the mid-palate. If you have the patience, this should be a brilliant wine in time. *Don’t Miss!*
94-97 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound (Apr 2025)
