B-21 Top Recommendation Read More
One of the biggest shake-ups in the Burgundy landscape took place earlier this year, and now collectors have a new name to add to their shortlist of must-haves. With announcement earlier this spring that Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils had been sold to Artemis Domaines, the follow on announcement was that all of Bouchard's most prized domaine holdings would be bottled under a new label, Vignobles des Cabottes. With the exceptionally talented Frederic Weber now focusing only on the Cabottes wines, this is set to be new benchmark name in collectible Burgundy, with glowing critical acclaim across the board to prove it. In other words, same outstanding Bouchard class, just a new name on the bottle.
Weber leveraged the excellent 2023 vintage to craft another stellar range of wines. Naturally, the highlights include the three reference-point Grands Crus on offer today. The double 96-point 2023 Corton Le Corton Grand Cru is a top-tier expression of the domaine's famous parcel, a "beautifully defined" example that's already "singing." The 2023 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru is "an old school Chevy that is really quite stunning," according to Allen Meadows, who tagged it with his rare Don't Miss! designation, while Neal Martin confidently proclaims, "Decades of pleasure await." Finally, the crown-jewel 2023 Montrachet Grand Cru is an apex white Burgundy collectible and another Don't Miss! wine per Meadows. Massive scores from Jasper Morris, Neal Martin, William Kelley, and James Suckling put additional emphasis on the supreme pedigree of this iconic cuvée.
The 1ers Crus are no less intriguing, with Bouchard's famed expressions hitting the mark big time under their new label. The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Les Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus is "again among the appellation's top wines" as it displays the hallmark "excellent depth and precision" that this cuvée is known for. The 2023 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvee Carnot is "gorgeously perfumed, very Volnay" per Jasper Morris, with "a suave, seamless profile" as noted by Wine Advocate's William Kelley. In addition, keen-eyed buyers will spot a few razor-sharp overachievers, led by the 94-point 2023 Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavieres, a "delight" according to Decanter. The 2023 Meursault Les Clous showcase "a classy bouquet, offering elegance weight and sunshine together, a really fine balance, with a lingering finish," as described by Jasper Morris.
We just secured a comprehensive introductory parcel at incredible pricing, including several wines in 1.5L magnum format, that invites our Burgundy fans and collectors to go big on these soon-to-be-legendary wines at the best prices in the country. |

Precise, pure and elegant nose of roses, minerals and ripe strawberries. Quite bright and nuanced, with a medium body and fine, taut, minerally tannins. Transparent and tense. Quite long. Drink from 2027.
94 points, Zekun Shuai, James Suckling (Jun 2026)
Approachable and easy to love, with a forward, plummy fruit. The firm-ish tannins in evidence when tasted in June had smoothed out by November to give a silky, softer impression. Clos de la Mousse does not have the most depth of the Beaune premiers crus but lingers pleasantly on the palate. The grapes are from Bouchard's 3.36ha monopole across the road from Teurons; they are partially destemmed and gently fermented before ageing 16 months in cask, 30% new.
93 points, Charles Curtis, Decanter (Nov 2024)
The 2023 Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse is quite elegant this year, mingling aromas of cherries with notions of spices, rose petals and orange zest in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and pure, it's lively and mouthwatering. Biodynamic trials are ongoing in this clay-rich walled monopole.
91-93 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Jan 2025)
More prominent though not invasive wood is present on the ripe aromas of poached plum, kirsch and pretty floral nuances. The super-sleek, detailed and energetic middle weight flavors conclude in a lingering bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This too could reasonably be approached young but have no trouble aging gracefully over the mid-term. *Outstanding*
90-93 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound (Apr 2025)
The 2023 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru has a more perfumed and floral bouquet, fine purity, perhaps more discrete at first but there is real complexity in situ. The palate is medium-bodied, tensile, quite energetic with more mineralité on the finish compared to the Les Teurons. Classy but it needs 18 months in bottle.
92 points, Neal Martin, Vinous (Jan 2026)
Vermilion in colour. This is by some way the most sensual, with a light alpine strawberry bouquet and fruit, followed by acidity rather than tannins. It is a little lighter than I rember it, but I also know that Clos de la Mousse can be deceptive, with far longer ageing potential than one might imagine. Drink from 2029-2037.
92 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy (Apr 2026)
