Some of our most popular and best-selling Italian wines come from the Abruzzo region, primarily in the form of the iconic Montepulciano reds, but you can add to the list some outstanding whites and the region's singular rosé style, Cerasuolo. In a region full of historic estates, Agricola Tiberio is a relative newcomer, but the quality that began with the vision of founder Riccardo Tiberio in 2000 is now reaching new heights under the uncompromising care of his son and daughter, Antonio and Cristiana.
The estate began with a single parcel of old Trebbiano Abruzzese vines, which now produces the world-class Fonte Canale, which garnered a whopping 98 points from Vinous in the 2023 vintage. But the fireworks don't stop there. Indigenous, massale-selected Montepulciano forms the backbone of the range, producing everything from an outstanding 94-point, sub-$25 denominacion expression and an equally stellar 94-point Cerasuolo to a brooding cellar thoroughbred in the barrique-aged Montepulciano Archivo. Their father's forward thinking also resulted in a rare planting of massale-selected Pecorino, one of the few in the region, resulting in a double 92-point, "wickedly fresh" version in 2023.
