A little fuller in yellow fruit. This has additional body over and above the Chalumeaux, but it comes more in a single block of flavour. Adequate acidity behind and good length. Fills the mouth more than seduces. Note that the Combettes has not been racked yet, and might well be showing better since. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2024.

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet La Combette 1er Cru, which was taken from barrel and due to be racked in a month, has an austere bouquet at first, but there is a lovely stoniness with touches of green apple and undergrowth. Still, as you would expect, everything feels buttoned down for now. The palate is well balanced with pure yellow fruit, nectarine and light spicy notes. The 2023 is quite elegant in style with more persistence than the Chalumaux, though perhaps it lacks a bit of grip.
