The 2023 Riesling Lieu-Dit Harth Vieilles Vignes, known as Tradition in certain export markets, comes from the plain in Colmar from a site with almost no clay but sand, pebbles and gravel. Yields have to be kept low due to the dryness of Colmar and the well-draining soils. The 2023 vintage is based on yields below 20 hectoliters per hectare due to frost, whereas the goal is always 50 hectoliters per hectare. Ripe and aromatic on the spicy and fruity nose, this is a medium to full-bodied, round, fruity and refreshing Riesling with elegant acidity and a savory as well as saline, still young and tight finish that delivers citrus flavors and fine tannins. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Colmar, November 2024.

The 2023 Riesling Lieu-Dit Harth is from 60-75-year-old vines rooted in the slightly richer clay soils of the well-drained gravel and sand of the Mittelharth. Juicy, pure yellow pear and Mirabelle notes speak of the fruit's ripeness. The palate is just as aromatic but beautifully dry, juicy, defined, precise and wonderfully light. This is lemony, lip-smacking and so clean. (Bone-dry)
