The 2023 Pinot Gris Lieu-Dit Harth Tradition opens with a clear, fresh and aromatic as well as spicy/stony/smoky bouquet of ripe and lush white seed fruits. The wine is rich and intense on the palate, quite powerful but in balance due to its low yields, dry richness and concentration. The finish is intense and powerful and reveals a fine tannin structure and salinity. 14% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Colmar, November 2024.

The 2023 Pinot Gris Lieu-Dit Harth is from 50-60-year-old vines from the Oberharth, all on gravel and sand. Gentle smoke wraps itself around a ripe Comice pear aroma on the nose. Concentration and brightness define the palate with surprising freshness. There is muscle, but it is toned. The 5 g/L of sweetness pulls this away from austerity, adding just enough softness to its bold body bordered by a slight phenolic frame. (Dry)
