The 2023 Riesling Kiedricher Gräfenberg Auslese was made from shriveled grapes without botrytis. The nose opens with dried apricot, a touch of clear blossom honey and bright, illuminating lemon oil. Notions of orange and candied orange peel join the fray. All these nuances are heightened on the palate, while aromatic mandarin oil and mint tincture lend a textural backdrop. A glorious wine of utter purity, brilliance, concentration and incredible lightness, this is a game of precision taken to the nth degree. This is a Riesling that will outlast us all. (Sweet)

The 2023 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese is very intense but nobly refined and precise in its concentration and flinty nuances of crushed phyllite. Dense, lush and generous on the palate, this is an almost hedonistic but most of all refined, precise and stimulating saline Gräfenberg with a long, intense and stimulating finish. This is richness in its lightest form and another version of Rubens-meets-Dürer in a bottle of Gräfenberg. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2024.

This great riesling Auslese is so exotic yet so delicate, vibrant and silky in spite of all the power and concentration. A cornucopia of ripe yellow and tropical fruit with a hint of floral honey. Super succulent and super clean on the medium- to full-bodied palate. The fresh pineapple acidity driving the very long finish is strident, but these are early days for a wine with the capacity to age for decades. Limited production from organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

From hand-selected raisined berries without botrytis, this sweet nectar from the Gräfenberg site is haunting in its brilliance. Rich, deep tones of lemon oil balance against acacia honey, ripe, smoky grilled pineapple and a note of sweet marshmallow. The palate is opulent. Rich tropical notes a smoky depth of roast marshmallow, all lifted by brilliant notes of citrus cream and a beautifully preserved acidity that makes the entire affair dance across your palate.
