Based on 89% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Sémillon from all To Kalon fruit and aged eight months in French oak barrels with 23% new oak, the medium gold-hued 2023 Estates Fume Blanc Oakville reveals a richer perfume of melon, white flowers, chalky minerality, and hints of orchard fruits. Medium-bodied, with a beautifully layered mouthfeel, it has plenty of concentration and depth, integrated acidity, and a great, salty finish. It's beautifully done and one impeccably made Sauvignon Blanc that readers will love. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12 years. I wouldn't be surprised to see it keep even longer. Drink 2025-2037.

Very smooth, spicy and savory, offering subtle aromas of baking spices, citrus, brioche, toasted almonds, white pepper and kiwi fruit. Vibrant yet generous, gaining richness and complexity from fermentation in 37% new French barrels. Contains 11% semillon grapes. Drink now or hold.

This bold white makes a statement of richness and restraint, with honeysuckle, marmalade, wildflower honey and grilled orange, plus details of lemon verbena, oregano and litsea oil. Vibrant acidity keeps the flavors fresh and in focus, with a subtle note of beeswax firming up on the finish. Drink now through 2035. 1,903 cases made.

Mondavi's 2023 Fume Blanc The Estates is a blend of 89% Sauvignon Blanc and 11% Sémillon, all from the To Kalon Vineyard. Fermentation and aging are almost entirely in wood, with 2% seeing concrete instead. Hints of pencil shavings, join fig, melon and tangerine on the nose, while the palate is medium- to full-bodied and silky in feel, with a certain freshness and linearity lending structure and length to the finish.

The 2023 Fumé Blanc is redolent of pear, mint, jasmine and a kiss of French oak. Pliant and creamy, the 2023 impresses with its balance and mid-palate weight. Soft contours wrap it all together in style. There's quite a bit of density here, so I would give this a bit of time in bottle.
